Presents of Mind | Mobile UX Research and Design
Presents of Mind: Using Experience Design to Support Online Gift Giving is a hypothetical mobile application backed by written research and published as Masters Thesis at Texas State University. All research and design was conducted by Lisa Psihramis and overseen by committee including Claudia Roeschmann, Jill Fantauzza and Hannah Park.
Goal
The purpose of the project is to find a solution for giving and receiving gifts and sharing wish lists online with family and friends.
Explanation
The mobile UX solution is shown here. After launching the app titled ”Present Hype“ the user is prompted to login and connect a social media account.
The home screen is a newsfeed style screen with friends' gift messages about gifts given, received or shared gift wishes.
From the home screen newsfeed the user can choose to “Create Post“ at the top right or select the nested menu located at the top left indicated by three horizontal lines.
In the nested menu, the user can access their profile, “Chat with a Gift Scout,” “Track whereabouts,” or return to the home newsfeed by selecting “Present Hype.”
When “Chat with a Gift Scout” is selected a bot conversation is initiated and a form with basic questions regarding who and what occasion the gift is for. After these details are submitted, the user will then be connected to an online assistant who will find gift recommendations based on the criteria given.
